In these difficult times it is good to know that Trafford can still afford large amounts for certain posts within the Council

All Local Authorities in England (the social care part) have to integrate with their CCGs, it's part of the Government's plans to ease the pressure as the population lives longer and requires more support. In theory this is a good idea but as usual it will be done badly and financial savings will be seen as more important than delivering a good service to people at a vulnerable part of their life. Political squabbles are all part of the fun of Local Government but now the Chief Exec is also responsible for Health there's much more at stake if they leave.

Whoever thought about joining CCG (health) & Local Authority (social care) together might want to consider what has happened in Trafford - the CEO has moved onto "new opportunuties" seemingly through political pressure. It can't be right that the commissioning of our health services can be disrupted by childish political battles.

I think I can safely revive this topic. The Manchester Evening News today reports that "Theresa Grant is leaving after nine years to pursue 'new opportunities'" and notes that the Council "effectively has no permanent senior officer corps at present".

Jules,
That might be the accetable rate for a CEO in some peoples opinion but so were the expenses an acceptable rate for our MP's. The CEO who accepts the job could start cutting cost's by cutting his own salary, that salary cannot be justified especially when we know they don't do much they just get others to do the work.

The sad thing is that Trafford, as all other Greater Manchester Councils, have undergone a review of staff and salaries and unfortunately it is the lower tiers that have lost out financially. One friend of mine has had her salary cut by £3,000 p.a. I know of many members of staff who have left in the last couple of years and staff morale is so low that lots more are looking for jobs.

That is the acceptable rate for a Local Authority CEO, I can assure you Trafford are not paying more than the going rate.

They should spend it on repairing the dire roads in Urmston/ Trafford. Potholes everywhere! Too many chiefs and not enough indians.
