Happy New Year Urmston
Topic posted by Gill ... dated:02 January 2008
OK, Lets see what a response we get THIS year!
Happy New year to you all - I wish you all prosperity, Luck and love, and a parking space in Urmston town centre when you wish to go shopping there. I am a bit glum today - back at work, but eating my porridge and thinking thin thoughts!! (New Years resolution - the diet thingy!)
Hope everybody had a wonderful 2008 xx

Thanks JohnH, that's a very bright firework display! (And it didn't leave bits of burnt plastic all over my lawn!) Happy New Year everybody!

Happy new year.

Isn’t it strange that we can remember 2017 as though it was yesterday?

Happy New Year to all, 2018 has to be good after a year that included terror and hardship.

Happy New Year to all, you will be having fun a few hours before me but I will soon catch up. Being on my own this time around, I add best wishes to others in the same boat. Take it easy and don't get down it is still the first day in the rest your life with good things still to come.
Everything in moderation, Bah Humbug, enjoy.

Lanterns over Manchester via Manchester Confidential... But shouldn't they have a health warning? They could be dangerous.

Someone (in Sale) told me she got her Chinese lanterns from poundland/the pound shop.

ASummer - I just typed "paper lanterns" into Google and got 583,000 results, many of which offer them for sale or tell you how to make your own.  Alternatively, Firebox sell them here.

Could anyone tell me where you get the lanterns from please, our grandson loved watching them on New Years Eve. It was lovely to watch them drifting across the sky and the fireworks were great, thankyou  to everyone, you put on a fantastic display.

They may have been Chinese paper lanterns although but we let a few of our Belarussian Kyitos off which burn with a green flame and look fantastic. Don't set them off near trees though as it was a mad rush for the hose pipe.

The red lights looked like Chinese Lanterns. There were a few in the sky on Christmas Eve too. Not sure if they were set off altogether or were let off by individuals. Maybe in respect of loved ones no longer here perhaps?

Ram - they were Chinese paper lanterns. One is still stuck in a tree on Porlock Avenue.
