My hair clippers, bought online at the start of lockdown, have proved to be a sound investment and I suspect many others have done the very same judging by the lack of unkempt hair out there.

People are doing their own, following videos on YouTube. My cousin had his done by his wife, who then did her own in the mirror.

As a person who does at lot of walking around Urmston it has become very apparent from the youth of our town are finding some way  to get ther hair cut observeding by the very tidy cuts that can be seen and that's just the male persons.

Where as we over 70 are getting more untidy so come on give us a clue as to who's doing the cutting.

The Hair Bank on Station Road, opposite the Italian Job. They do hair (men's too - I go there myself, also for a shave) and do beauty treatments. Lovely place too, and great staff.

Hi Gillykins... Please ask Dave for my mail  and will be able to tell you (some other hairdressers might not be too happy if I gave it out on an open forum!).

[Joe, if you activate your contact form from your member's page other members can contact you directly. Dave]

Any hairdressers out there that can answer a question or two for me?

Got dark brown dyed hair and major grey roots are coming through. I would like to strip the colour and go lighter. Would this ruin my hair ? (which is in good condition) and how much would a salon charge approximatly?

I'm sorry to say that I'm closing Optimum Hair Design, if anyone is interested in taking over the shop please let me or Harrisons in Urmston know, I'm staying open untill 24 December then I will be leaving and sadly closing the door behind me. I'm also selling the equipment and chairs, so if anyone is interested again please let me know, I have put an advert in the classified ads.
Thankyou to all clients past and present, and  thankyou to Clare and Gemma. x

I'd go to Nikki & Co, I tried everywhere when I moved here and Nikki is by far the best in my mind - i've been going there at least four years now.

Hi does anybody know if there are any local salons that do hair extensions? Due to surgery and vanity I'm not happy with my hair and think extensions would do the job. Thanks.

MojoJojo - If he doesn't want something from one of the usual barbers or salons, you may be looking at a journey into Manchester to somewhere like Toni & Guy or Razor's Edge.

My 14 year old son wants a "trendy" hairstyle and wants me to avoid booking him into the usual barbers. Can anyone recommend a good salon?

Phil Steele is by far the best - completely recommend him. He is the only one my teenage son will trust. He is the only one I've never left feeling dissatisfied.

I have used Phil Steele for years. Its an excellent salon. Phil is a brilliant hairdresser. He is not only good at his job, but his personality shines.
I would well recommend him. His prices are probably in line with what other salons in Urmston are charging.

Has anyone had their hair cut at Phil Steele Hair Design at the Nag's Head, Lostock Road, Davyhulme? If so, what did you think, would you recommend, what's the price for a cut and blow?

Hi I go to Identity and pay £26 for a cut and blow..it is pretty steep yes but I must say Nikki is the best hairdresser I've ever had. I have short hair also and when I want highlights I buy a hair colourant called Smart Highlights - you can have red, blonde, brown, purple highlights (the list of colours go on) and you don't have to bleach your hair first - it's fab and so easy to use. You can buy it from Wilkinsons or Superdrug and it costs approx £4.
