I think Bobby Charlton used to live in Woodsend somewhere - Brighton Avenue maybe. Man Utd used to set up players with houses in the area.

Did live around Woodsend. What was remarkable was you could catch him most days he was in town at lunch time buying Cheese & onion pie and chips from the chippy at Woodsend and smoking cigs, amazing diet and lifestyle for a great player, this dates back to the early sixties.

Bobby's address in the days when he was on double your money and won £1,000 was number 3 Sidmouth Avenue, after that other club members to live there were David Sadler, Malcolm Musgrove and later Sammy McIlroy who then purchased the property from MUFC.

Bobby Charlton used to live in Sidmouth Avenue, Flixton. I remember seeing him along Woodsend road after he bought a paper at the shops next to the Fox and Hounds, when I was about 10 and my Dad said, "Thats Bobby Charlton"

I delivered bread to Bobby C when he lived in Sidmouth Ave, but as it was a Saturday job I didn't see him! As a life long City fan did I care? (Actually used to see a lot of the Man U players of the early 60's at Davyhulme golf club where they went for match day lunch)

Bobby Charlton, George Best & Denis Law attended a Sportsmans Night at my local soccer club in Mooroolbark, Melbourne, Australia a few years a go. I had a chat with him over a beer and he shared a few fond recollections of life in Flixton. (incidentally, Denis Law and George Best got absolutely plastered !.)

My grandparents used to live in Sidmouth Avenue, opposite the 'United' house. Bobby Charlton was always the perfect gentlemen and my grandmother thought the world of him, even though she couldn't understand the game of football.

I was home on leave and visited a girlfriend Sylvia Davenport at her home near Greatstone Road Stretford. Bobby was sat having his dinner before going off to the match. He also, was still doing his National Service with the Royal Army Ordinance Corps. We chatted about Geordieland where he and my mother came from. I would love to hear from Sylvia Davenport and family
